Beliveing in dreams
Description
Having dreams is a great blessing bestowed upon us by God.
Dreams reveal their true value when we hold fast to them, even in the most difficult circumstances. I live by this very belief—a conviction that no obstacle has been able to tear from my heart.
Before the Taliban came to power, my life—like that of so many other girls—was filled with hope, dreams, belief, and motivation. Every morning, I would wake up eagerly, preparing myself for school, university, or work, driven by the desire to build a bright future. After finishing my studies or work, I would return home happily. Whenever I wished, I could go to a park or a restaurant for ice cream without fear. In those days, smiles, hope, and a sense of security were part of our lives.
But suddenly, everything changed. The dreams and aspirations I held for the future were met with severe restrictions. Today, we have been deprived of many of our fundamental rights, including the right to education, the right to work, and the right to participate in society. These are difficult times. Yet, nothing has been able to take away the pens that were born to learn.
Even though we are denied the right to study, there is a light within our hearts. Can they extinguish this light when our hearts still beat with the longing to learn?
I believe that education is a human right, and no one should take that right away from us. I cannot study simply because I am a girl; for this very reason, I have decided never to give up. I transform every obstacle in my path into hope and motivation. I strive toward my goals with even greater determination and hope.
I wanted to pursue an education; I wanted to finish school and enter university. I lived each day with the hope that one day I would enter university and become a skilled doctor. I wanted to gain knowledge so that, as a strong young woman, I could serve my community.
I dream that, one day, the words I have written will serve as an inspiration to girls who have refused to lose hope, even in the most trying circumstances. I believe the future is built by those who keep the light of hope burning in their hearts, even during the darkest days. Stars shine brightest amidst the darkness. I, too, want to be like those stars—to forge ahead with faith in my dreams, hope, and hard work, proving that no one can defeat the strong, courageous girls of Afghanistan. We are invincible, and we will prove that no obstacle can extinguish the dreams of girls.
We strive to be remembered one day as brave young women who stood tall and persevered through the hardest times—girls who never gave up on their dreams. We know that if we keep going, a day will come when we become professors, doctors, engineers, and pilots—not just doctors and engineers, but whatever else others believe we cannot be. We are girls capable of striving even in the toughest times; I understand that through effort, we can make the impossible possible.
We strive for education. Even when I face despair, I transform it into hope. I am a daughter of this land—a woman who refuses to accept defeat. We seek light amidst the darkness and the sun amidst the storm clouds. Even if something seems impossible, I strive to make it possible. We are the strong daughters of mothers who fought for their own futures; we are the daughters of those very women. We, too, strive to inspire hope in other girls, turning defeat into a stepping stone to rise up and grow stronger.
I hope that one day I will realize my dreams. All girls who have envisioned a dream for themselves will one day see it come true. Let us step forward with hope for a bright future and work for ourselves. Let us act now so that, in the future, we do not look back and say, "If only I had tried back then, I could have been a doctor just like her." Regret comes too late; we must take a step today to build our future. Let us begin today.
