Teacher
Description
October 5th is a day to honor and appreciate the important role of teachers. On this day, no matter how much we thank our dear teachers for their patience, sacrifice, love, and kindness, it will never be enough.
Teachers have a meaningful and important role in every society. They light the way toward the future and are a source of endless knowledge and hope. But in countries where education comes with many difficulties and challenges, the role of teachers becomes even more meaningful. Afghan teachers have always worked tirelessly to keep the doors of knowledge open for their students and their future.
Today, the pen I hold in my hand and the words I write are possible because of those who have been a light for my generation and will continue to be a light for generations to come.
Today, when I look back at the past, I feel something special. The last Teacher’s Day I spent with my teacher and classmates was in 2020, the last year when we celebrated Teacher’s Day at school. At that time, I did not know that perhaps the following year, we would not be able to experience such a day together again.
That day, the laughter, congratulations, flowers, and simple moments we shared seemed like ordinary memories to me. But today, I understand how precious those moments truly were.
No one knew that the ordinary days at school, the days when we sometimes became tired of difficult lessons, would later become some of the sweetest memories of our lives.
We did not know that one day we would miss sitting at those same desks, hearing the school bell, and seeing our teacher’s smile. We did not know that one day we would wish to return to that same small classroom, where our dreams were big and the future seemed full of hope.
Perhaps we did not appreciate every moment enough at that time, but today we understand that having a teacher and having the opportunity to learn are among the greatest blessings in life.
For me, the year 2020 is not just a year on the calendar. It reminds me of the days that still carry the laughter of my classmates, the kindness of my teachers, and the atmosphere of our school. Those days never came back, but their memories will always remain alive in my heart.
Today, on Teacher’s Day, I am grateful to all my dear teachers who have kept the light of knowledge alive and have always helped us grow in knowledge and understanding. I am especially grateful to my wonderful EBA teachers, who have always worked hard to provide us with more awareness, knowledge, and opportunities to learn.
Today, in 2026, I write this to my dear teachers: You are the people who have made the path toward knowledge and awareness easier for us. I am grateful for every moment you spent working hard for us, even when you were tired.
In return for your efforts and sacrifices, I will do my best to follow the path of knowledge that you have shown me. I hope that, in my own way, I can pass on what I have learned today and what I will learn tomorrow to the next generation.
May we continue to share knowledge, spread awareness, and light the way for others, so that one day there will be no darkness or ignorance in our country or in the world.
